How to Flash Firmware on Samsung Devices [Step-by-Step Guide]
Flashing firmware is a powerful method to fix software issues, update Android, or unbrick your Samsung phone. In this post, we’ll walk you through the safe way to flash firmware using Odin.
What You'll Need:
- A Windows PC or Laptop
- Samsung USB Cable
- Samsung USB Drivers
- Odin Tool (Latest Version)
- Correct Firmware for Your Model (e.g., from Samfw, Frija, or Gsmdevelopers)
Step-by-Step Firmware Flashing Process:
1. Install Samsung USB Drivers
Download and install the drivers so your PC can detect your Samsung device properly.
2. Download Odin Tool
Extract the Odin ZIP file and open Odin3.exe.
3. Boot Your Samsung into Download Mode
Turn off your phone, then press and hold Volume Down + Power + Home (or Bixby) button together. Then press Volume Up to enter Download Mode.
4. Connect Phone to PC
Odin should detect your device and show "Added!" in the log box.
5. Load Firmware Files into Odin
Click each button and load matching files:
- BL = Bootloader
- AP = System (may take time to load)
- CP = Modem/Radio
- CSC = Country/Region settings (Use HOME_CSC to keep data)
6. Start Flashing
Make sure “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” are checked. Then click Start.
Wait until you see PASS! in Odin and your phone restarts. That’s it!
